Apple has launched a plethora of new products but the iPhone, as always is on the spotlight. The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus are officially here and while they look pretty much the same (which was expected), there are a lot of changes to interest people.
So, let’s take a look at the new changes or 5 features that will make you want an iPhone 6s or the 6s Plus:
1. The new Apple A9 chipset
The new iPhones are always expected to be more powerful and the new Apple A9 chipset lives up to the expectations. The A9 chipset has a 70 percent faster CPU performance when compared to last generation’s A8 chipset and 90 percent better GPU performance. The M9 co-processor now supports the “Hey Siri” always-on voice command. The new chipset is also said to bode well with the battery life.
2. 3D Touch
As it was rumored, the new iPhones feature Force Touch or Apple likes to call, 3D Touch. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus come with a cool new Taptic Engine along with capacitive sensors integrated below the display to detect the gestures, mini taps and full taps. With the new 3D Touch, you will be to press hold on an app icon for contextual options. For example, you can post a status update on Facebook by just press holding the app and hitting the post an update option. The 3D Touch has been implemented on all UI elements in iOS 9, which do make for a new experience.
3. New Cameras
Apple has finally moved on from the 8 MP rear cameras and the new iPhones feature a 12 MP iSight camera with the dual-tone flash, which captures the colors and the surroundings at night better. Apple has also used something called “deep trench isolation” to make sure the noise in the pictures is reduced. The company has also promised better color accuracy and range with the new camera. The iPhone 6s camera now also records 4K videos. Sadly, Optical Image Stabilisation is only part of the Plus version and not 6s.
The FaceTime camera has also been upgraded to 5 MP from the 1.2 MP on the previous iPhones. So, you will finally have better selfies. The new iPhones will also use the screen as the flash for the selfies. When you take a selfie, the screen will brighten up to a level that will work as a flash.
4. iOS 9 and Live Photos
Apple has also implemented Live Photos on the new iPhones, taking a clue from Lumia’s Living Images and HTC’s Zoe. The Live Photos are basically gif images, which can also have sound. The new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus also come with iOS 9, which brings improved Siri and various updates to Apple’s apps.
5. Improved Touch ID and faster WiFi
Apple has also made improvements to the iPhone’s fingerprint scanner aka Touch ID. The new iPhones incorporate 2nd gen Touch ID scanners that are way more accurate and 2x faster than the previous gen scanners. The new iPhones also have faster WiFi and while the company did not go into the details, the WiFi is twice faster than what we have seen on the previous iPhones.
6. New Rose Gold variant and better build
Apple has introduced a new Rose Gold variant of the iPhone and it sure looks pretty nice. The new color variant isn’t the only addition, as Apple has also used 7000 series Aluminium, which features aluminium-zinc wrought alloy that is said to be way more sturdier. The Cupertino giant had received a lot of flak last year when various iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users reported of bending. Well, no more bending on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, we suppose.
The new iPhones do look same on the outside but there are certainly a lot of things going on in the inside. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will go on sale in select countries on September 23, while the rest of the countries including India should get it before the end of the year. So, anyone buying one?
