Apple iPhone 5c might be a failure as Apple slashes orders

Apple recently unveiled the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5c wasn’t what we expected it to be and now there are reports hinting that the iPhone 5c might be Apple’s first failure in years.

iPhone 5c

The rumors of the iPhone 5c being a budget iPhone were doing the rounds for a long time before its launch making everyone believe that yes this was going to be the iPhone for the masses but in true Apple fashion they surprised us but this time in not really a pleasant way. The iPhone 5c is basically a iPhone 5 with a new colorful polycarbonate body matching the brand new iOS 7. I asked few of my friends if they would prefer the iPhone 5c or the last year’s iPhone 5, everyone replied in favor of the iPhone 5. Well the iPhone 5c may look good to some but the last year’s iPhone 5 was truly a more premium offering with the beautiful aluminium design. Plus the expectations of the iPhone 5c being a cheaper iPhone have surely ruined it for Apple.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple will be cutting manufacturing orders of the iPhone 5c for the fourth quarter and the move as WSJ says raises “concerns about weaker-than-expected demand and its pricing strategy for the device.” The report says manufacturers Pegatron’s orders from Apple for the device will be cut by 20 % and Hon Hai’s orders will be cut by a third.

There has been a general consensus that the iPhone 5c hasn’t been received quite well and to be frank it hasn’t generated any hyper sales whatsoever and there are reports already that many American and Chinese retailers have already slashed prices to make it sell some more. So can we label the iPhone 5c a failure, well not yet but yes it is somewhat of a dud considering Apple standards. We have already reported that the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c are hitting the Indian market on Novermber 1st o anyone planning to get an iPhone 5c? Do tell us what you feel about the iPhone 5c in the comments below.
