Apple has just unveiled the latest generation iPad Mini 2 at the Apple Event and it is mostly what we had wished for in the iPad Mini. There had been plenty of rumors if the iPad Mini 2 will have a Retina display or not and finally the answer is here and its pretty pleasing.
Talking about the design first, the iPad Mini design has been used in the bigger iPad Air and the design on the iPad Mini 2 has been refined as well. The iPad Mini 2 is 7.5 mm thin and weighs 331 grams which makes it lighter than the first gen iPad Mini. It comes in two color options: Silver white and Space gray black.
The iPad Mini features a 7.9-inch Retina display (2048×1536), the same resolution what we find in its bigger sibling, iPad Air. It even shares the same 64-bit A7 chip from the iPhone 5s and iPad Air as well as the M7 co-processor. Rumors of an 8 MP camera on the rear were around but Apple has chosen to stick with the the same 5 MP iSight camera and the front facing Facetime HD camera which is basically a 1.2 MP camera which records in 720p HD. It comes with the latest iOS 7.
There’s a 2380 mAh battery, a improvement of 40 mAh over the original iPad Mini but Apple claims that the new display and processor will not drain the battery and it will give 10 hours of continuous video playback. So that’s all for the iPad Mini 2. There’s no Gold version or TouchID on the Tablet in case you were hoping for it.
The iPad Mini 2 will cost $399 for the WiFi 16 GB variant and will go upto $699 for the 128 Gb version. The 4G LTE version starts at $529. So anyone planning to get the iPad Mini 2? Do tell us in the comments below…
