Asus has almost mastered the art of producing some really wonderful and affordable Zenfones to cater to its audience. It recently launched it’s yet another significant smart phone in the Zenfone series, the all new Zenfone Max (2016). Without wasting much of your precious time, let’s hop on to what it has to offer.
Zenfone Max comes with an incredible feature being its 5000 mAh huge battery lasting for upto three days. It marvelously connects with other smart phones to function as a power bank. The phone displays an average screen resolution with cameras also working just fine. It has a better on–call sound quality when compared with other phones of the same range. Zenfone Max has a faux leather finish with metallic rims on the sides.
HOW IT LOOKS
Zenfone Max features an amazing 5.5-inch 1280 x 720-pixel IPS capacitive touch screen with really vibrant and bright colors. It looks physically and visually identical to its predecessor yet has slight noticeable differences.
The phone is somewhat a little heavier (202g to be precise) due to the 5000 mAh battery present but is just 10.6 mm sleek. The phone has a basic curved design with a straightforward layout and is almost the same as the previous Zenfone Max.
You can find that the power and volume keys are on the right hand side of the phone which is a new thing. This phone has the Micro-USB port at the bottom and 3.5 mm audio socket at the top. It has a detachable back cover with a faux leather finish and a golden metallic trim along the sides giving it an elegant look. Zenfone Max actually provides a greater grip and feels good when held in hand.
If you remove the rear panel you will find the biggest highlight of this phone, its 5000 mAh non-removable battery, two micro–sim slots and external memory card slot as well.
HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
Asus Zenfone Max has a faster 1.5 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor which is definitely an upgrade from its predecessor and is available for the 3 GB RAM model. It features a Quad-Core Snapdragon 410 processor for the 2 GB RAM variant. Adreno 405 GPU makes it a lag free and up to the mark experience for the operation of this phone even while playing some really heavy games. It also allows auto adjustment for enhanced CPU performance.
Android v6.0.1 (Marshmallow) operating system is accessible for the 3 GB RAM device and Android v5.0 for the 2 GB variant. Both the phones come with pre-installed applications for the user.
Internal memory for Asus Zenfone Max (2016) has been increased from to 32 GB featuring an external microSD card slot for expandable storage of upto 64 GB enabling you to store all your images, movies, songs, apps and more for an uninterrupted experience.
Available user (phone) memory is around 24 GB out of 32 GB.
A super fantastic battery life is a signature feature of Asus Zenfone Max. The biggest selling feature is its 5000 mAh battery for a tremendous and unbreakable operation. It’s a 5000 mAh non–removable battery which is the main feature keeping this phone apart from rest all.
Another really cool feature of this phone is that it can be connected to other smart phones to function as a power bank.
Zenfone Max can easily last for two full days with constant 3G/WiFi data connectivity and occasional use of multimedia and camera.
Though the battery is the biggest attribute of this phone yet it comes with an inadequate and weak charger with a lower output which is really disappointing. You would want to charge the phone with another better charger.
Asus Zenfone Max uses the exact same camera as the earlier Zenfone Max device. It features a 13 MP primary camera rear camera equipped with a dual-LED flash and a secondary camera of 5 MP. Both the cameras offer impressive picture quality and capturing speed.
Both the cameras have almost no blurry picture quality and are decent enough to use for video calling. Zenfone Max features an Aperture Size of f/2.0 for both rear and front cameras which is again a cool feature.
Video Resolution for again both the rear and front cameras is capable of 1920 x 1080 pixel recording and is great enough for computer or television viewing.
It features a lot of shooting modes (14 modes to be precise) for stills like miniature photography, super resolution etc. Rear Camera does take great images in artificial lighting, but produce some amazing shots in natural lighting an in certain low light conditions, the phone produces decent images. Front Camera does not deliver high-resolution images yet some good shots can be expected.
Rs. 9,999 is the price tag for the 2 GB RAM variant and an extra Rs. 3000 i.e. Rs. 12,999 for the 3 GB RAM variant.
