Today is the day of the Google event with the Android and Chrome boss Sundar Pichai and Google has just made official the new Nexus 7 tablet. The new Nexus had leaked in a press image and in a Best Buy ad so we were quite sure it was coming.
The new Nexus 7 is a great upgrade from the original Nexus 7. The new Tablet features a 7-inch display with a WUXGA resolution that is 1920 x 1200 which makes up for a ppi of 350 and that on a Tablet is something truly remarkable. Its the highest resolution display on a Tablet.
It runs on a Snapdragon S4 pro processor, Adreno 320 GPU and there’s 2 gigs of Ram, a remarkable update over the original Nexus 7. Asus and Google have also improved the design of the Tablet. Although the display size is same, they have reduced the footprint of the device by reducing the bezels and also the device is thinner by 1.8 mm and is also lighter by 50 grams. Other hardware changes include of the notification LED on the front along with a SlimPort.
There was no rear camera in the original Tablet but the new Nexus 7 brings a 5 MP camera along with LED flash and there’s the same 1.3 MP camera on the front. The just announced Android 4.3 runs the show. The connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, NFC and wireless charging is also supported. There’s an LTE model as well of the new Nexus 7.
The WiFi only new Nexus 7 comes in two stirage variants, 16 GB and 32 GB which will cost you $230 and $270 respectively. The 4G LTE model comes only in 32 GB and will cost you $350. The new Nexus 7 will go on sale in the US starting Tuesday at the Google Play Store and a number of retailers and as we speak the old Nexus 7 has been removed from the Play Store for making way to the new one. The availability of the new Nexus 7 will be expanded to Canada, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Australia, Japan and South Korea in the coming weeks.
The new Nexus 7 is surely one of the best Tablets if not the best you can have right now and at that price it brings a hell lot of worth. The high resolution display, future proof chipset plus the guarantee of future updates thanks to being a Nexus make it the best Android Tablet to have right now. Let’s just hope it makes it way to India soon.
