Halo is a very popular franchise among gamers and last month Microsoft announced that the new Halo is coming that is Halo: Spartan Assault and the new game will be exclusive to Windows devices. Halo: Spartan Assault is now finally available in the stores of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.
The story of the new Halo: Spartan Assault is set between Hal 3 and Halo 4 with a focus on past stories of Human-Covenant wars. As Halo Waypoint state in their blog:
This new chapter lets you experience the first missions of the Spartan Ops program and dives deeper into the backstory of Human-Covenant wars. Play through the eyes of Commander Sarah Palmer and Spartan Davis stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity as they fight never-before-seen battles against Covenant forces.
The Halo: Spartan Assault is the first fully touch enabled Halo although mouse and keyboard are supported for gameplay in the Windows 8 version. The new Halo is a shooter game rather than being strategic and people who have played the new Halo: Spartan Assault are saying they love it although some say the touch controls on phone takes time to getting used to. This is definitely a good time if you are a Halo fan and a Windows Phone owner.
The Halo is available at the Windows Phone Store and the Windows 8 Store and is priced at $6.99. The $6.99 is truly worth the amazing gameplay Halo: Spartan Assault brings. Altough if you are from US, then sadly and strangely the game is exclusive to Verizon for a month which is the first time i know of a game being exclusive to a carrier. Moving on, you need to pay twice if you want to play it both on your Windows Phone 8 device and Windows 8 PC since both the Stores aren’t merged.
Being an Xbox Live game, you’ll be able to compete with other Xbox Live players along with getting achievements and there’s a nice feature if you play the game on both your phone and PC then it’ll sync your state in both the devices.
This game should surely make people think of getting Windows Phone devices considering the popularity of the Halo franchise. For more details you must visit Halo Waypoint.
Suddenly being a Windows Phone owner is getting cooler thanks to the Lumia 1020 and the Halo: Spartan Assault. With more apps and games incoming for Windows Phone, the platform is surely will be getting the traction it deserves.
