If you thought the race to the thinnest smartphone was over or just died down a little, you have just been proved wrong as Huawei has just launched their Ascend P6 with an amazingly thin 6.2 mm waistline.

The Huawei Ascend P6 leaked quite a few times but today Huawei are holding a press invite for its launch but they have already made it official via a press release although it could be a mistake by one of their PR people since they have removed the page once the info leaked out.

So coming to the specs of the device, it features a 4.7-inch HD display of in-cell LCD type. The Huawei Ascend P6 runs on Huawei’s own home-made SoC K3V2 chipset which is of the Quad-Core type at 1.5 Ghz and combined with 2 GB RAM. It is the same processor which powers other high end offerings from Huawei such as the Ascend Mate, Ascend P2 and Ascend D2 so speed should be good enough.

The Ascend P6 features dual sim functionality as well with the dual standby feature which should make it a good deal in India since people here love dual sim smartphones but the key selling point of the device remains the crazy thin slim profile and Huawei is marketing the device as the world’s slimmest smartphone and its quite light too at 120 grams.

It has a 2000 mAh battery, a rear 8 MP camera and a 5 MP front facing camera which i think will be pretty darn awesome for video chats and calls and yes self portraits.

The whole show is run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top so you also get the latest Android version. Check out the video of the beauty below:

The Huawei Ascend P6 will be available at stores later this month in China while the folks at Europe will get the device through carriers and retailers. There’s no news as to the Asia availablity yet but it should follow soon once the it gets to
