We all know that Nokia will enter the smartphone market once again, once the Microsoft clause ends by the end of 2015. Well, today we have some leaked renders of the Nokia C1 smartphone suggesting Nokia will indeed re-enter the smartphone market.
The leaked render of the Nokia C1 suggests that the smartphone will look similar to the Nokia N1 tablet, with the same Apple like design and slim profile. We can’t make out if the device has a metal unibody or a polycarbonate unibody. The rumored specifications suggest the C1 to be a mid-ranger.
The rumored specs include a 5-inch 720p display, Intel processor, 2 GB RAM, 8 MP rear and a 5 MP front-facing camera.
The agreement with Microsoft does not allow the Finnish company to launch a smartphone till the end of 2015. Once the clause ends, we can expect to see a slew of Nokia hardware running Android. Nokia already launched the N1, a high-end iPad mini-esque Android tablet, which was manufactured by Foxconn. We can expect Nokia’s smartphone endeavours to be similar, with Foxconn taking over the manufacturing department while Nokia licensing its brand and being involved in the design.
These Nokia C1 renders were posted on Weibo and we are not sure if these Nokia C1 renders are simply concepts or the real deal. So, we will suggest you to take these pictures with a slight pinch of salt. However, we can expect Nokia Android smartphones to indeed arrive in early 2016 and as always, we will keep you posted.
