The Japanese folks behind the popular Line Messenger app have announced that they have reached 10 million registered users in India. The Line messenger made its way to India in July and had reported that they reached 5 million registered users and now they have doubled their user base to 10 million.
The Japanese company aims to reach 20 million registered users in India by the year’s end. It already has more than 200 million global users. Line has also partnered with Sony India to bring their app pre-installed on selected Sony smartphones such as the recently announced flagship Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia C. They have also roped in Katrina Kaif, the popular Indian actress as their brand ambassador. She is also Sony India’s brand ambassador.
Line and Sony will also bring music to the Line Messenger app including various genres including Bollywood, Indipop, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and International music. The Japanese company has also announced that it will be bringing exclusive stickers featuring Katrina Kaif in the app. Line will also be giving its marketing a boost and will be airing new TV commercials starting October 11 featuring Katrina Kaif.
The messenger arena has intensified a lot recently and Line had brought a new video sharing feature to combat the competition. There are lot of player in this field including Facebook Messenger, Google’s Hangout, WhatsApp, WeChat, Samsung’s ChatOn and now BBM also is all set to join the party. Things will surely get interesting on this front considering every company trying to outweigh each other and what this brings is more features to users.
