Micromax Canvas 4 announced in India at Rs 17,999

Micromax has finally launched the Canvas 4 which was teased a while ago and it even went on pre-booking last week so we are quite glad the India manufacture’s flagship is finally here.

Canvas 4

Coming to the specs of the device, the Canvas 4 features a 5-inch 1280 x 720 ‘True-HD’ IPS display which is basically identical to the Canvas HD so no upgrades on this part. A 1.2 GHz Mediatelk SoC runs the whole thing along with 1 GB of RAM.

The memory is 16 GB, more than what the Canvas HD had and you can also expand the memory through the sd card slot if you wish. The Canvas 4 also has Dual-SIM with dual standby feature which should be great if you use two SIM cards. The Canvas 4 has a 2000 MAh battery which worries me a little.

There are some software tricks Micromax has brought about in order to make the Canvas 4 appealing such as the camera tricks and some cool features straight out of Samsung’s book such as the video pinning, video pausing when you look away. There is a weird feature as well that is Blow to Unlock, yes you heard that right you can blow a kiss to your Canvas 4 to unlock it. There are some other cool features such as when you flip over the Canvas 4 during a call, the phone automatically goes into loudspeaker mode.

The camera has got an upgrade from the Canvas HD, the Canvas 4 has a 13 MP sensor made by Sony which has all the tricks up its sleeve such as the image stabilization, face detection, vertical panorama etc.. On the front it has a 5 MP camera which should be great for self portraits and Skype calls.

The Canvas 4 seems much like the Canvas HD so we are a bit disappointed as we had been expecting high end specs like a full HD display and other but at the price of Rs 17,999 which will even get u a free flip cover, i think it truly hits the sweet spot thanks to the upgraded camera among other things. The device will hit the retail stores in a week or so with the people who went ahead an pre-booked the device getting it first.
