A new smartphone from Micromax dubbed Canvas Magnus A117 is now available in India at an online retailer and the device will cost Rs. 14,999.
On paper, the device is specced almost identical to the Canvas 4 but the difference is the Canvas Magnus with the codename A117 features 4 GB iternal memory while the Canvas 4 came with 16 GB storage. The Canvas Magnus features a 5-inch HD (1280×720) display, 1.5 GHz MediaTek Quad-Core processor with 1GB of RAM. There’s a 12 MP camera with LED flash along with a 5 MP front facing camera.
A 2000 mAh battery runs the show and there’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on the smartphone and Micromax has promised that they will be updating the Canvas Magnus to Android 4.3 very soon.
The Canvas Magnus really makes no sense to me. It is a Canvas 4 but with less internal storage and the price being Rs. 14,999, i will suggest the Canvas 4 over canvas Magnus any day. Instead of launching devices that will go into oblivion soon, they should focus on devices like the upcoming Canvas Turbo and building their after sales service. I hope Micromax is listening since they may have hired a global superstar to advertise their smartphones but they need to up the ante in everything else as well.
