Motorola starts updating its smartphones with Stagefright patch

Motorola had announced last month that it will be updating its smartphones with the Stagefright patches and the company has lived up to its promise. The Lenovo owned company is now rolling out the Stagefright patch as an update to its smartphones globally.

Motorola Moto G

Motorola is rolling out the update to Moto X (1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen), Moto G (1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen), Moto G 1st gen with 4G LTE, Moto E (1st and 2nd gen) and Moto E 4G 2nd gen. The Stagefright fix is already part of the Android build on Moto X Play and Moto X Style.

The update includes fix for the security vulnerability in Stagefright library (CVE-2015-3864). Along with the patch, the update also brings a new Night Mode to the camera app along with various bug fixes and improvements. The new Night Mode lets you capture 5 MP images at night with lower noise and blur.

The update (v23.46.) is 174 MB in size and it’s rolling out to Motorola devices globally. Chances are some of you might have received the update already. If that’s the case, do sound off in the comments section below.
