Nokia Lumia 1020 goes for pre-order, priced at Rs. 49,999

Nokia launched the Lumia 1020 in India recently but they did not tell us the price at which the device would go on sale and now the device has gone up for pre-order at the official Nokia online store here at the price of Rs. 49,999.

Lumia 1020

The Nokia Lumia features a 4.5-inch ClearBlack PureMotion HD+ (1280 x 768) AMOLED display, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1.5 GHz with 2 GB RAM. It runs Windows Phone 8 with the GDR2 and Amber update. There’s 32 GB of storage with no way to expand it more. The 2000 mAh battery runs the show.

The USP of the device is the 41 MP camera which features 6-lens optics, second gen Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Xenon flash and also an LED light for videos. There’s a 1.2 MP wide angle front facing camera capable of recording in HD.

Lumia 1020

The Lumia 1020 comes in yellow, white and the regular black. There are some offers with the device right now, t comes with a Nokia WH-530 stereo headphone worth Rs. 2,999 for free and there’s a Rs. 1,000 voucher for your app downloads, 2GB of 3G data for a couple of months for Vodafone users, There’s also an year of insurance for the smartphone from New India Assurance.

The device should go on sales starting October 11 but the pricing is surely insane. For comparison, it is priced higher than the Galaxy Note 3 which is beast of a device. We all agree that the camera on the device is unmatched but at this price it will not sell, period. I know people who have been waiting for the device here in India but after the price they surely are turned off and are looking for other options such as the Galaxy Note 3. With the launch of Lumia 1520 later this month which matches the specs of the Galaxy Note 3 in every way and also ups the ante with its 20 MP camera makes me wonder what it’ll be priced at. Well anyways, anyone of you planning to get the Lumia 1020 at this price?
