Nokia teased us yesterday that something big was coming tomorrow and we were hoping for the Nokia’s Amber update rollout but it has turned out something else which is pleasantly surprising as Nokia have just announced the Lumia 625 featuring a 4.7-inch display which is the biggest ever display on a Nokia smartphone.
The Lumia 625 is the latest addition to Nokia’s Lumia line-up and it is a great budget smartphone to be had. It features a 4.7-inch IPS LCD display with WVGA resolution, the screen is curved and is Gorilla Glass 2 for protection against scratches. The display also comes with Nokia’s sunlight readability enhancement, high brightness mode, color Enhancement and super sensitive touch so that you can use the device with gloves on. There’s dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 512 MB of Ram, 8 GB of internal storage and a mcro sd card slot for expanding the storage.
The Lumia 625 comes with 4G LTE connectivity which is rather surprising for a budget smartphone but it should do the device a whole lot of good in areas where there’s LTE and people want a budget LTE smartphone. All the connectivity is covered in the Lumia 625 with the usual WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and Glonass and others.
There’s a 5 MP rear camera with a LED flash that can record 1080p videos, the front facing camera is of VGA resolution. The device measures 133.3 x 72.3 x 9.3mm and weighs 159 gms.
The Lumia 625 comes with the Amber update pre-installed which means it features the Nokia Smart Camera for those awesome camera tricks. There’s also Nokia’s awesome Here maps services along with a free Nokia Music subscription.

The Lumia 625 will make its way to China, Europe, Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, Africa and Latin America in Q3 2013. In the UK, the Lumia 625 is expected to come this September and it will come in a variety of colors, orange, yellow, bright green, white and black. The device has a dual-shot colored shell just like the Lumia 620 which means it you can change it has exchangeable semitransparent shells to easily switch colors.
The device will cost you $290 which is basically Rs 17k in India which is great starting price for the device. All in all, it will quench the thirst of many people who wanted a big screened Lumia. The device is basically a bigger Lumia 620 but that large display makes a world of a difference in markets like India where there’s a bigger is better perception. It’ll also help Nokia fight the likes of Samsung Galaxy Grand which has quite similar specs but has been selling like crazy here.
