Hey all music fans, here’s something interesting for you. Here’s a smart wireless charging earbud that can be charged from your phone on the go and doesn’t tangle like the regular ones. We are talking about Pugz, which is a tiny wireless earbud you can charge from your phone via a USB cable. We have previously written about Pearbuds, which is yet another wireless earbuds but what makes PUGZ different is that you don’t need to put away the earbuds while it is charging, you can connect it to your phone using OTG and still enjoy the music. Does that sound cool?
Design and Build quality
The company calls the design “The Squircle”, since it is not a square nor a circle but it’s both. The earbuds come in two different models, Sealed and Leaking and in 4 different colors. Sealed type provides a passive noise cancellation which isolates all surrounding noise. Leaking type lets you hear a bit of your surroundings.
There’s also a clip, so that it won’t accidentally fall away. It has a unique charging interface that magnetically connects itself to the charger. The company has used a patented self-guiding magnetic connector with 18k gold covering for better electric conductivity and quick charging. We can’t yet comment on the build quality since we are yet to get hands on the product.
Concept
The concept of Pugz is very practical and convenient in terms of usability and charging on the go from mobile. It is surely going to be a hot favorite for people who travel a lot or I must say every music lover. You’ll never run out of battery juice on a busy commute to office or college.
Usability
Even though it’s called wireless earbuds, it still has short wires, but only meant for convenience and prevent it from tangling or falling away by accident like the other wireless earphones. And yes, you’ll still need a cable to charge the earphones from your phone.
Pugz has a volume adjust button, and control button which supports couple of functions like play, pause skip music tracks, accept and end calls, activate Siri while you are using iPhone or Google voice for android.
Specification
Pugz supports dual mode Bluetooth 4.1 with a wireless reach of 10 to 30 meters. It’s fully compatible with Apple, Android and Windows phones. Uses a wireless audio CSR aptX audio codec, aptX bluetooth technology promises a smooth wireless transfer by compressing the data and still maintaining a CD like high audio quality. You can pair this little earbuds with upto 8 devices, two at a time. PUGZ are offered in S-XL gel sizes to fit your ear.
Expected battery life is about 4.5 hours on continuous usage and a standby time of 10 days or 240 hours. It takes 40 minutes for a full charge. With it’s inbuilt
microphone, you can attend and make phone calls. It is also sweatproof and lightweight.
It supports iPhone versions ranging from 4S to 6S, all generations of iPad, and most Android and Windows phones with Bluetooth.
Is it a Game Changer?
One of the main disadvantages of most wireless earbuds and wireless devices in general, is that the devices are useless while it is charging. To put it the other way, you have to wait couple of hours patiently till it’s charged, until then you can’t enjoy the music or you are forced to use the wired ones, which is where Pugz comes in so handy.
What makes Pugz cool and unique is the way it can be plugged and charged from your phone while you are still using it to enjoying the music from you phone. Not just that it can be charged from the phone power, but it will only consumes 3% of the phone charge to completely charge. It will be very convenient to charge on the go without a need to wait for it to charge fully.
You can also charge Pugz earphones from any USB port or an iPhone Lightning port.
