Vivo, the premium smartphone brand launched a limited IPL edition version of their previously launched Vivo V5 Plus smartphone to announce the tenth anniversary of IPL (Indian Premier League). Vivo’s original V plus was launched in January and was a success for its flagship like specs at a rather attractive price. The limited edition seems to be no exception, making a statement with its premium matte black panel with a shiny IPL mascot engraved on it.
VIvo announced an exclusive partnership with Flipkart on 10 April, 2017 for handling the online sale of the limited edition of the smartphone. With it, Vivo also announced the price for the latest smartphone the company has to offer. To everyone’s surprise and the buyer’s delight, the price of the IPL edition of the smartphone is lesser the original V5 Plus. The newer V5 Plus is tagged with a price tag of Rs 25,990($403) on Flipkart. Vivo’s new smartphone is available on Flipkart along with a few offers, which include no cost EMIs starting at Rs 2,166 per month. There is an exchange offer available as well with up to Rs 18,000 off. Axis Bank Buzz credit card users will get an extra five percent off on purchase of the Vivo V5 Plus. The price appears luring for cricket crazy IPL fans and also for someone who takes a lot of selfies.
Though the overall specification of the new Vivo V5 Plus are impressive, the feature that stands out is its dual-selfie camera setup which comprises of a 20-megapixel IMX376 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens system, and an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture. The dual selfie cameras work together to produce bokeh effects in selfies with the 20-megapixel sensor capturing photos and the 8-megapixel sensor for capturing depth information. Other specs of the new V5 Plus are 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display with a 2.5D curved glass on top and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection. At the core of the smartphone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz. The Vivo V5 Plus comes with 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of onboard storage.
Vivek Zhang, CMO, Vivo India, said, “The idea behind the launch of limited edition phone was to offer our consumers with not just the phone but an experience they can cherish for a lifetime.”
