Well, the rumors were true. Xiaomi has gone ahead and confirmed an event on September 22 in China, where we expect the company to unveil its new Mi 4 variant, the Mi 4c.
Xiaomi had launched the Mi 4i in April after the Mi 4 was launched last year and now, the new Mi 4 variant is all set to break cover. The Mi 4c is supposed to be device that bridges the gap between the Mi 4i and Mi 4. The company has already started sending invites for the event in China.
According to previous rumors, the Xiaomi Mi 4c will feature a 5-inch Full HD (1920x1080p) display and it will be powered by the Hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with 2 GB RAM. Other rumored specs include 16 GB internal storage, 13 MP rear camera, 5 MP front-facing camera. The Mi 4c is rumored to be coming in two variants, one with a 16 GB storage and 2 GB RAM and the other with 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM.
The battery is said to be at 3080 mAh and it will be supposedly Xiaomi’s first smartphone to feature the USB Type-C connector. The smartphone should be running the latest MIUI v7.0 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The device is also said to pack in an infrared port.
If the latest rumors from China are true, the Xiaomi Mi 4c prices will start at 1,499 Yuan (~Rs. 15,600) for the 16 GB variant. The device is expected to go on sale in China first and then arrive in other countries including India. It will be interesting to see the pricing of the Mi 4c in India, considering the Mi 4i is priced at Rs. 12,999, while the Mi 4 is priced ta Rs. 14,999 in the country.
